Conditions 💨
To kitesurf in Peniche, you already need to be an experienced kitesurfer.
The spots around Peniche are wave spots that will allow you to progress in strapless or twin-tip. In Peniche, you can ride when the direction of the wind is south, north or west.
➜ The best season to kite is from May to September or winter for riders who want bigger conditions.
Kitesurfing spots around Peniche
The most famous spot is at the bar do Bruno. This spot works very well in all orientations. The Bay of Baleal offers a huge playground. Watch out for beach breaks and surfers though.
If you’re an intermediate kiteboarder, get upwind quickly to take advantage of the space. Do not ride between surfers and respect priorities on the water for wave kiteboarders.
The best conditions for this spot: south and west winds.
The spot of Gamboa is located at the entrance to the town of Peniche. At the end of the bay, this spot only works with a northerly wind. The wind on this spot blows on-shore, so you need to get upwind straight away to ride. Watch out for surfers and rocks at low tide.

Supertubos is a well-known surf spot, but you can also kite. It works very well when the wind is from the south, but the water will be rough. It can also work when the wind is blowing strongly from the north, but beware, the wind can be gusty and the spot is off-shore.

If you’re an experienced kitesurfer, you’ll find miles of beach from Peniche to Óbidos Lagoon where kitesurfing is possible. These spots only work when the wind is northerly. On these spots you’ll be riding alone.
