Silver Coast Portugal things to do
In this article, we detail 9 activities to do on Portugal’s Silver Coast, and more around the Peniche region of Portugal.
The Silver Coast is a wild coastal region of Portugal, where you can combine water and land activities.
It’s a paradise for surfers and kitesurfers. But it also abounds in other lesser-known but equally sensational sporting activities!
1. Surfing
Peniche is THE surfing region in Portugal. You will find a multitude of spots for beginners or advanced. So we put on a wetsuit and we go into the water. 🏄🏻♂️
If you want to take lessons, contact Audrey & Luís from Happy Days Surf Peniche, big smile guaranteed at the end of session. 😁
Otherwise, on every street corner there are places to rent surfboards or bodyboarding.
📍 Some spot ideas: Lagide, Praia do Baleal, Meio da baía, Supertubos, Consolação, Almagreira
2. Kitesurfing
In the area you can also go kitesurfing.🪁
If you don’t really know this boardsport, we explain everything here ☺️
👉🏻 Discover all about kitesurf
For the more experienced, head for the ocean 🌊, good news for the beginners, in Óbidos there is a shallow and calm water lagoon, without the waves of the ocean, in other words, the ideal place to learn and progress in complete safety! 👌🏻

➜ You can rent kitesurf gear or take kitesurf lessons.
3. Wingfoiling
Wingfoil is also a boardsport, which is practiced on the water thanks to the force of the wind. As for the kite if you are already experienced the ocean reserves you beautiful sessions. Otherwise, it is also possible to sail and learn wingfoil on the Óbidos lagoon. 🌬
📍 On the lagoon there are 2 main spots to navigate, The top of the lagoon, (closest to the ocean) and Inside the lagoon.
Warning: in wing you cannot navigate at the top of the lagoon because the water is too shallow but no worries at all about flying inside the lagoon.
4. Windsurfing
For lovers of the old school version of the wingfoil, it is possible to have fun and to learn, windsurfing, on the lagoon. ⛵️
5. SUP / Kayak
Rent a stand up paddle or a kayak and set off to explore the Óbidos lagoon. If you want the lagoon just for you and breathtaking colors, rent a SUP for sunrise or sunset, you will tell us about it! 🌅
