3. Surfing at Costa Caparica or Peniche
The Costa Caparica is Lisbon’s best-known coastline, with 26 km of beaches.
There are several beaches on the Costa where you can go surfing. 🏄🏻♂️🌊 The waves are small, ideal for beginners, but in summer the ocean can be really flat, so I recommend you come and enjoy the waves at Peniche & Baleal (located 1h north of Lisbon).
Peniche is world-famous for its wave spots. The biggest waves are to be found in winter, and in summer the waves are suitable for beginners. 👌🏻
There’s also the Guincho spot for experienced surfers 🤙🏻
Located 1 hour north of Lisbon, you’ll find one of Portugal’s wildest lagoons, the Obidos lagoon. 🍃
With its flat and shallow waters, the Obidos lagoon is the perfect place to learn to kitesurf.
Despite its appearance, kitesurfing is an accessible sport that mainly involves the abs and legs, not the arms. You’ll learn how to fly a kite and navigate. 🪁
Try out this sport that gives you a crazy feeling of freedom that’s pretty crazy.
